Tool for Tracking Your SODA Chapters
Need a better way to keep track of students introduced to your organization by the SODA National team? Look no further!
Here is how SODA defines its chapter deal stages, as mentioned in the tracker:
Chapter Lead Phase: A student in this phase has taken the first step in the SODA chapter application process by completing the Eligibility Quiz, which assesses their availability for organ donation advocacy.
-
Students indicating they can dedicate time weekly are encouraged to start a SODA chapter.
-
This is also the first point at which the SODA National team will introduce your organization to this student.
About half of these students go on to establish a chapter. We recommend:
-
Adding these students to your organization's database.
-
Training them as volunteers or ambassadors.
-
Inviting them to local volunteer opportunities, even if they don’t start a chapter.
This early engagement can foster long-term advocacy and involvement with your organization.
Chapter Application Phase: A group of at least three students has completed SODA’s official chapter application, and the SODA National team is reviewing it.
-
During this phase, the SODA team will send follow-up questions to the students about their application.
-
Students remain in this phase until they respond to these questions via email.
This is the second point at which the SODA National team will update your organization on the students' progress.
Chapter Established Phase: The SODA National team has reviewed the students' application and follow-up responses, and has confirmed they’re ready to establish a SODA chapter.
-
At this stage, we’ll share the students' contact information with your organization.
-
Next steps for the students include completing SODA’s Leadership Development Course and your OPO’s volunteer training, if not already done.
Remember: As SODA National serves as the “student expert,” we rely on our OPO partners as the “organ donation experts.” Please treat these students like any other volunteers or ambassadors in your network—put them through your training, provide branded materials, and invite them to local volunteer opportunities.
We encourage students to contact your organization at least twice each semester. If you have trouble reaching them, please contact students@sodanational.org. Since these students are balancing advocacy with their studies, communication can sometimes be delayed, but persistence is key!
